What we do
Cooling, heating and everything that keeps it running
Air conditioning and air source heat pumps are the same technology pointed in different directions, which is why one team handles both. Whether you need a single wall-mounted unit fitted, an annual service booked, a breakdown fixed today or a whole office cooled, start here.
Why Kelvara
Properly qualified, properly insured, properly priced
Air conditioning is one of those trades where the difference between a good installation and a bad one only shows up two years later — in a system that has quietly leaked its refrigerant, an outdoor unit that annoys the neighbours, or a warranty that turned out to be void because nobody ever serviced it. We would rather explain that up front than sell you the cheapest possible job.
Kelvara is REFCOM registered, the industry certification scheme for businesses that handle fluorinated refrigerant gases. That registration is not decoration: it means our refrigerant handling, record-keeping and engineer qualifications are independently audited. The government's F-Gas guidance for users and traders sets out what any company touching your system is legally required to do — it is worth a two-minute read before you accept any quote, ours included.
Beyond the paperwork, three things shape how we work. We survey before we quote, because heat load depends on glazing, orientation, insulation and use — not floor area. We give you one fixed written price covering equipment, labour, materials, commissioning and making good, so there is nothing to argue about at the end. And we tell you when you don't need what you've asked for; a good annual service is often the honest answer to a system that feels like it needs replacing.
We work across South London and North Surrey, on everything from a single bedroom unit in a Victorian terrace to a multi-split system across a commercial office floor. If your project sits outside what we do well, we will say so.
Brands We Fit
How it works
From first phone call to warranty registered
The same six steps whether it's one unit in a flat or a full-building system. You always know what happens next.
- 01
Talk it through
Tell us the property, the rooms and what you want the system to do. We'll tell you honestly whether it's straightforward or complicated.
- 02
Survey and design
We visit, measure heat loads properly, check pipe routes and condenser positions, and design a system that suits the building.
- 03
Fixed written quote
One price covering equipment, labour, materials, commissioning and making good. No day-rate surprises halfway through.
- 04
Installation
Dust sheets down, work done cleanly, and the property left as we found it. Most domestic installs are finished in one to two days.
- 05
Commissioning and handover
We pressure-test, evacuate, charge, run the system through its modes and show you how to use it properly before we leave.
- 06
Aftercare
Warranty registered on your behalf, plus a reminder when your first annual service is due so cover stays valid.
Where we work
Across South London and North Surrey
We work from Wallington, and cover roughly an hour's drive from there — South London and North Surrey. Being genuinely local matters more in this trade than people expect. A 1930s semi in Sutton, a Victorian terrace in Croydon and a mansion block flat in Wandsworth each present completely different problems for pipe routing, condenser siting and freeholder consent. Engineers who work these streets every week already know them.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Which areas of London do you cover?
We work from Wallington and cover roughly an hour's drive from there — South London and North Surrey. That includes Sutton, Croydon, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, Wandsworth, Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Bromley, and out through Epsom, Banstead, Leatherhead, Esher, Reigate, Redhill, Dorking, Woking and Guildford. If you're near the edge of that, call and ask; we'll give you a straight answer rather than quote for a job we can't service properly.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in London?
Usually not for a domestic outdoor unit, provided it meets the permitted development conditions on size, siting and noise. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the common exceptions, and flats have their own rules. We check this as part of the survey rather than leaving you to find out afterwards.
How quickly can you attend a breakdown?
We aim to attend London breakdowns the same day where an engineer is free, and next working day otherwise. During a heatwave demand spikes, so calling early in the day genuinely improves your chances of a same-day slot.
Are you qualified to handle refrigerant?
Yes. Kelvara is REFCOM registered, which is the industry scheme for companies handling fluorinated refrigerant gases, and our engineers hold the relevant F-Gas qualifications. Anyone installing or servicing air conditioning legally has to — it's worth checking on any quote you receive, not just ours.
Do you install both air conditioning and heat pumps?
We do. The two use the same underlying refrigerant technology, which is why the same engineers work on both. Many modern air conditioning systems already heat as well as cool, so it's often worth discussing both options in one conversation rather than treating them as separate projects.
