Kelvara exists because of a pattern anyone who has hired a trade in London will recognise. Three quotes come back hundreds of pounds apart. None of them explains what is actually included. One installer never visited the property. And the eventual invoice bears only a passing resemblance to the number that was agreed.
We built the business around removing that experience. We survey before we price. We give one fixed written figure covering everything, including making good. And we tell customers when they do not need what they have asked for — which costs us work in the short term and earns the recommendation that follows.
Qualifications and registrations
REFCOM registered. Kelvara is registered with REFCOM, the industry certification scheme for businesses handling fluorinated refrigerant gases. That registration is independently audited rather than self-declared, and it covers our refrigerant handling, our record keeping and our engineers' qualifications. Anyone who opens a refrigerant circuit legally needs this — it is worth asking any company you are considering, not just us.
F-Gas qualified engineers. Our engineers hold current F-Gas certification covering the installation, servicing and decommissioning of the systems we work on, including the safe recovery of refrigerant.
RAC15 qualified. Our training covers both air conditioning and air source heat pump work on split systems. That is the scope we quote for and the scope we work within — we do not take on ground source or geothermal installations, which are a different discipline entirely.
Registered at Companies House. Kelvara Group Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 17340394. Our filing history and registered details are public and can be checked directly on the Companies House register. We would encourage you to do that for any contractor you are about to give money to.
Fully insured. We carry public liability insurance covering every job we undertake, domestic and commercial. Certificates are available on request and are part of the standard pack we provide to managing agents and landlords.
MCS: not yet certified. We are not currently MCS certified, which means we cannot claim Boiler Upgrade Scheme grants on a customer's behalf. We state that plainly on our heat pump pages rather than leaving people to discover it at quotation stage.
How we work
We survey before we quote. A price given over the phone without seeing the property is a guess, and guesses get revised upward once the engineer arrives and finds the condenser has to go on the roof.
One fixed written price. Equipment, labour, materials, electrical work, commissioning and making good, in a single figure agreed before we start. No day rates, no provisional sums that quietly become real ones.
We size systems honestly. Heat load depends on glazing, orientation, insulation and how a room is used — never on floor area alone. An undersized unit is cheaper to sell and will never keep the room comfortable.
We say no. Sometimes a fifteen-year-old system is better replaced than repaired. Sometimes insulation would do more good than a heat pump. Sometimes the job sits outside what we do well, and the right answer is a recommendation to someone else.
Where we work
We are based in Wallington, Surrey, and work across South London, Surrey and Kent. Being genuinely local matters more in this trade than people assume. The housing stock here is unusually varied, and a 1930s semi in Sutton, a Victorian terrace in Croydon and a mansion block flat in Wandsworth present completely different problems for pipe routing, condenser siting and freeholder consent. Engineers who work these streets every week already know those problems and price them accurately.
South London: Sutton, Croydon, Merton, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames, Wandsworth, Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Bromley, Greenwich, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Hounslow.
Surrey: Wallington, Epsom, Ewell, Banstead, Leatherhead, Esher, Cobham, Weybridge, Reigate, Redhill, Dorking, Caterham, Woking, Guildford.
Kent: Orpington, West Malling, Ashford, Sevenoaks, Dartford, Gravesend.
If you are near the edge of that, ring and ask. We would rather tell you we cannot service a job properly than take it and let you down.
