Every system we fit is commissioned on the day, with the readings recorded for your warranty.

Wallington is where Kelvara is based. That is the simplest reason to use us if you live in SM6: the people who survey, fit and look after your air conditioning are on your doorstep, not driving in from the other side of London. Surveys are quick to arrange, installation days start on time, and if your system ever needs attention, we are close by.

This page explains air conditioning in Wallington: what we install, what it costs, and what we look for in the local housing, from the Edwardian terraces near the station to the interwar semis, the larger houses on the south side, and the newer homes in Hackbridge.

What we install

We only work on homes. In Wallington that usually means one of three things:

  • A single split system for one room, most often a bedroom, a loft conversion or a home office that overheats in summer. One indoor unit on the wall, one outdoor unit outside.
  • A multi-split running two to five rooms from one outdoor unit. It is cheaper than separate systems and leaves only one box on the outside of the house.
  • A concealed or ducted system for a refurbishment where nothing should show except a slim grille.

Every system we fit also heats efficiently in winter. See air conditioning installation for the full process, from survey to commissioning. Our engineers are F-Gas qualified to handle the refrigerant gases these systems use.

Wallington homes and what they need

Terraces and semis near the station

The streets around Wallington station and the town centre are largely Edwardian and interwar terraces and semis. Bedrooms are the usual target, especially rear bedrooms and loft conversions. With the outdoor unit in the back garden and the indoor unit on the rear wall above it, the pipe run is short and the job is often done in a day. A front bedroom with the outdoor unit at the back takes more planning, because the pipework has to cross the house neatly.

South Wallington

Toward the Woodcote and Purley border, houses get larger and gardens longer. This is where a multi-split usually makes sense: three or four bedrooms cooled from one outdoor unit, sized for any room you might add later. Larger houses also tend to have longer pipe routes, so the survey matters more here.

Beddington and Hackbridge

Beddington mixes interwar houses with flats, and Hackbridge has a lot of newer apartments and townhouses. New-build homes are well insulated and often south-facing with large windows, which makes them warm in summer and good candidates for air conditioning. With flats, the managing agent usually has to approve the outdoor unit, so we give you the drawings and specification they will ask for.

Roundshaw

Roundshaw is mainly flats and maisonettes, so the same rules apply: agree a position for the outdoor unit with whoever manages the building, then plan the shortest neat route for the pipework.

What it costs in Wallington

A single-room split system is typically £1,800 to £2,600 supplied, fitted and commissioned. Two rooms on a multi-split come to £3,500 to £5,000, and three rooms to £4,800 to £6,500. Our air conditioning installation cost guide breaks those figures down by unit size and lists the extras.

Most Wallington houses sit toward the lower end of each range. The outdoor unit can usually go at ground level, so there is no scaffolding to pay for, and cavity walls drill quickly. Concealing pipework inside the house, a long run to a front bedroom, or a new circuit from a full consumer unit are what push a price up. We check all of those at the survey and include them in one fixed figure.

Planning permission

For a house, the outdoor unit is usually permitted development as long as it meets the conditions on size, position and noise at the boundary, which the Planning Portal sets out for air conditioning at home. Flats don't have the same rights and normally need consent. We check which applies to your property at the survey, before any equipment is ordered.

Air source heat pump installation in Wallington

Most of the split and multi-split systems we fit in Wallington are air-to-air heat pumps as well as air conditioners: the same unit that cools a bedroom in July heats it efficiently in January, often for less than a gas radiator costs to run. For a loft conversion, a garden office or an extension the central heating doesn't reach, that is usually the quickest and cheapest way to add heating, with the cooling as a bonus.

See air-to-air heat pumps for how it works, and the heat pump cost guide for prices and running costs. We don't install the air-to-water type that replaces a boiler and heats hot water, so if that's what you're after we'll say so straight away.

Why a Wallington installer

We're close. Surveys, installs and any follow-up visits are easy to schedule, because we aren't travelling far to reach you.

We survey before we price. A figure given over the phone is a guess. We look at the rooms, the walls, the consumer unit and where the outdoor unit can go, then give you one price that covers all of it.

We look after what we fit. Annual servicing keeps the manufacturer warranty valid, and repairs come from the same local team.

Questions

Air conditioning in Wallington — common questions

Is Kelvara really based in Wallington?

Yes. Kelvara Group Ltd is based in Wallington, SM6, and registered at Companies House. Wallington, Beddington and Hackbridge are minutes away, so these are the homes we can survey fastest and get back to quickest if anything ever needs attention.

How much does air conditioning installation cost in Wallington?

Roughly £1,800 to £2,600 for a single-room split system supplied and fitted, £3,500 to £5,000 for two rooms on a multi-split, and £4,800 to £6,500 for three. Most Wallington houses have a back garden or side wall for the outdoor unit, which keeps them toward the lower end. The survey turns the range into one fixed price.

Do you install heat pumps in Wallington?

Yes — air-to-air heat pumps, which heat and cool rooms from one wall unit. They're ideal for lofts, extensions and garden offices. We don't install air-to-water heat pumps that replace a boiler and heat hot water.

How quickly can you survey in Wallington?

Usually within a few days, and often sooner, because we don't have to fit a long drive around it. Early-morning and late-afternoon slots are easier to offer here than anywhere else we cover.

Do you cover Purley, Waddon and the Croydon side?

Yes. Wallington runs straight into Waddon, Purley and the rest of the Croydon border, and we work there all the time — see our Croydon air conditioning page. We also cover the whole of the Sutton borough and the nearby Surrey towns such as Banstead and Epsom.
