Modular panel rooms are the standard answer for commercial kitchens: insulated panels lock together on site, so a room can be built inside an existing building without structural work.

Chillers hold 0°C to 5°C. Freezer room installation is the same principle at a lower duty: a modular freezer room at −18°C needs thicker panels, a floor detail that stops frost heave, and a correctly set defrost cycle — the usual reason a freezer ices up within a season.

Walk-In Fridges & Fridge-Freezer Combinations

   We measure the space, the temperature you need to hold and what goes inside. Product load and door traffic matter more than floor area.

   Panel layout and cold room assembly

   Cold room assembly is dry work: insulated panels lock together on a level floor track, set out around the door and any awkward pillar.

   Insulation, floor and door fit

   Panel thickness follows the duty — thicker for freezers than chillers — with the floor detail and door seal fitted to keep the cold in.

4. 04

   Refrigeration system installation

   Condenser sited for airflow and service access, pipework pressure tested, evaporator positioned to reach the back of the room.

5. 05

   Commissioning and handover

   Pull-down test to target, defrost cycle and alarms set, F-Gas records opened and the inspector's paperwork handed over.

A cold room is the evidence your stock has been held safely, and both food and healthcare settings are inspected against that.

Food businesses. Chilled food generally has to be held at 8°C or below — most kitchens work to 5°C for margin — and frozen stock at −18°C. The Food Standards Agency guidance on chilling and freezing food sets out what is expected, and an environmental health officer wants temperature records as well as a room that reaches the number. We set alarm thresholds at commissioning so drift is caught early.

Pharmacies, surgeries and clinics. Vaccine and medicine storage is tighter — typically 2°C to 8°C, continuously monitored, with a documented response when breached. F-Gas duties. Leak checking and record keeping apply above defined refrigerant charges, and that duty sits with you as operator. We open the logbook at commissioning and keep it current through your AC servicing visits.
